ANKARA (BIANet)—The International Federation of Associated Wrestling Styles (FILA) has barred Turkish wrestler Riza Kayaalp from attending tournaments for a duration of 6 months due to his extremist tweets and insults on Gezi Resistance protestors in Turkey. “We will not have a child wasted,” Turkey’s Wrestling Federation said.
During Turkey’s Gezi Resistance, Kayaalp sent several assertive tweets including “You left a belligerent to Armenians, God retaliate we damn chapulliers,” “Armenian people are celebrating that they have assigned Taksim Square and angry Turkey easily,” “I will f..k your protests, we traitors”.
Many complaints have reportedly been filed per Kayaalp to FILA, as good as a International Olympics Council (IOC).
According to a Habertürk newspaper, FILA found Kayaalp’s remarks extremist 3 weeks ago, exclusive him from attending tournaments for a duration of 6 months.
